How many legs does this elephant have?

How many legs does this elephant have? Writing today about how we’ll invest so much into gathering data, but leave the presentation to chance. The reports I often see at clients are sort of like optical illusions. At first they seem normal, but the longer I look, the more I notice that something is wrong. You’ve probably seen it before: someone at a meeting notices a report doesn’t look right, and the remainder of the meeting is wasted discussing the details of a report no one should have seen. People just can’t get off the subject. What’s even worse are the reports scanned quickly, without context or time, that mislead or misrepresent, often not even purposely. It’s not that hard to master the basics of visual presentation – to present it so your mind sees it and gets it quickly. How much would decisions and bottom lines improve if companies paid attention to the basics?
